BCFE

A laddered structure: entry is at level 5 with a year of Animation Drawing Studies, then the path progresses through the HNC and HND to a level 8 BA Hons awarded by the University of Dundee. Up to five years in total, with an exit point at each stage, and without requiring the school record needed for direct degree entry. The HND requires choosing the 2D or 3D track in the second year. Year one centres on fundamentals: 3D modelling, 2D animation principles, life drawing, layout, scriptwriting.

The entry portfolio for the HNC and HND asks for roughly 12 to 15 pieces, with priority on observational drawing, perspective and sketchbooks. An interview as well.

A public Irish institution, historically tied to the local animation pool: Cartoon Saloon, Brown Bag and Boulder Media are all within reach. Fees are listed on the college's dedicated page.
