Ecole estienne
Animation school
France
Address:
18 Boulevard Auguste-Blanqui, 75013 Paris, France
The best value for money on this list for anyone aiming at animation cinema, and that is not a turn of phrase: initial training is free, with only university registration fees to pay. A public institution under the Ministry of Education, founded in 1889.
Two clearly separate animation tracks, which is welcome: a DN MADE in Animation specialising in 2D animation cinema, and the same degree specialising in 3D, each over three years. A two-year DSAA in Design and Creation in Digital Environments extends the path.
The techniques covered are very broad: 3D in Blender, animation in Maya, digital and traditional 2D, rostrum camera, stop-motion and puppet work. In the third year each student produces a complete film alone, presented to a jury of professionals. It is demanding and it teaches.
Admission through Parcoursup with a compulsory PDF portfolio of ten A4 pages maximum showing your visual world and artistic culture. The school states it answers no follow-up requests by phone or email.
RECA member. The DN MADE carries licence status, the DSAA master status.
