Ecole georges melies

Animation school
France
Address:
26 Avenue Guy Môquet, 94310 Orly, France
A university degree awarded in partnership with Université Paris-Est Créteil and the INA: the fifth year validates a Master 2. That is rare for a French private animation school, and it changes how the course is recognised.
Two main five-year paths: Artisan de l'Image Animée in 2D and 3D animation cinema, and Artisan du Cinéma in audiovisual, VFX and real time. Fifth-year specialisations cover character animation, images and visual effects, and art direction and storytelling. Since 2022 the fifth year runs on a work-study contract, so without tuition.
The status is non-profit association, not a commercial group. A five-hectare park campus, a low-energy building, and an EcoProd commitment.
The entrance exam includes a remote illustration test, an observation and perspective test, a multiple-choice film culture paper and an interview with portfolio, for a €90 application fee. Around 100 to 120 students admitted a year. No direct admission into years four and five.
RECA label, winner of the France 2030 "La Grande Fabrique de l'image" scheme, backed by the CNC. Notable alumnus: Guillaume Rocheron, Oscar for best visual effects in 2019 for 1917. €9,500 a year from year one to year four.
