Lightbox Academy
Animation school
Spain
Address:
Tr.ª de Andrés Mellado, 3, Chamberí, 28015 Madrid, Spain
The school-studio link here is structural rather than decorative: Lightbox Academy is a direct offshoot of Lightbox Animation Studios, producer of award-winning Spanish features, and the teachers are working inside the studio.
Formats are short and flexible, which makes this a specialisation option rather than a complete initial course: a Máster Superior in 3D Animation over one academic year, a double master over 2.5 years, high-specialisation or professional masters over five months, and specialisation courses of 75 to 150 hours. On site in Madrid, online or hybrid.
The Máster Superior is organised in nine modules: animation principles, body mechanics, acting, lip sync, creature animation, motion capture, through to the final demo reel. A trip to the Annecy festival and a recruitment fair are included.
No prior experience is required for the Máster Superior, and the portfolio is assessed only for talent scholarships.
Goya awards have been won by projects linked to the school. The 98 % employment rate it reports is self-declared. Teaching in Spanish only, fees not published.
