PIXL VISN

PIXL VISN

Animation school

Germany

Address:

Im Mediapark 5, 50670 Köln, Innenstadt, Germany

Eighteen months instead of three to five years: PIXL VISN is positioned for career changers and top-up training rather than a conventional post-secondary course.

The 3D Animation & VFX course runs 18 months full time or 36 months part time. Teaching is entirely in English, a choice justified by English being the working language of international VFX studios. More than forty working professionals teach, from ILM, Wētā FX, Framestore, Ubisoft and EA. Maya, Houdini, Nuke, ZBrush, Unreal Engine, V-Ray, plus AI tools built into the syllabus.

Admission requires neither a portfolio nor prior 3D experience: age 18, completed secondary education, basic English, then a compulsory one-day workshop and an interview. The exit deliverable is a professional demo reel.

The qualification is a school diploma rather than a German state-recognised degree. The school was voted best VFX school in the world at the 2025 Rookies and has been in the global top ten since 2018.

€23,400 in total, full time.
