Rubika Montreal

Animation school
Canada
Address:
550 Beaumont Ave bureau 320, Montreal, Quebec H3N 1T7, Canada
The dual qualification is the central argument: a Quebec AEC worth 180 ECTS paired with a diploma from the French Rubika group. In practice that positions you on both sides of the Atlantic, which no single local programme can do.
The 2D/3D Animation course runs three years, or 33 months, with an optional two-year 3D Animation and VFX specialisation on top. There is also a seven-month preparatory programme for candidates who are not ready. Cohorts are deliberately small, 20 to 25 students, and the claimed teaching load exceeds 2,045 hours.
Admission is by competitive entrance exam, with a stated pass rate of 83 %. RECA member.
The campus sits in the heart of the Montreal hub, which is no small thing: Framestore, Rodeo FX, Cinesite and Squeeze are all nearby. Fees are clear and reasonable by North American standards: CA$14,800 a year for Quebec residents and French nationals, CA$16,000 for everyone else, plus a CA$50 registration fee. A CA$2,500 bursary is available to Quebec residents.
