Vancouver Film School

Animation school
Canada
Address:

Twelve months, six intensive terms. That is VFS's historic model: short, dense, geared toward portfolio and immediate employability rather than an academic qualification.
The price gap between on campus and online is large: CA$35,950 on campus for domestic students against CA$18,000 online, and CA$54,000 against CA$21,000 for international students. The online version costs half as much. A six-month Production Studio format also exists.
The software list is very complete: Maya, Nuke, ZBrush, Houdini, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, Unreal Engine 5, Photoshop, Premiere.
Admission requires a portfolio of eight to twelve pieces including at least two 3D works in Blender or Maya, with a secondary qualification or being 19 or over. The school states that strong traditional art fundamentals can offset limited 3D experience.
An alumni network documented on District 9, Thor and Game of Thrones. That said, the Rookies distinctions the school displays come without rank or category, and VFS does not appear in any verified 2025 Rookies top 20.
